Tripartite initiative of GO-NGO and Corporate sector bring ray of hope for disadvantaged youth

In a unique attempt to link employers with potential TVET graduates CAMPE & the Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) project of the Ministry of Education, under the supervision of NSDC Secretariat organized a day long Job Fair on 25 June 2016 at the Bangabondhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Mr. Motahar Hossain, M.P, Chairman, Standing Committee, Ministry of Primary & Mass Education and Mr. Fazle Hossain Badsha, Member, Standing Committee, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and other dignitaries present on the occasion inaugurated the Job fair 2016. A seminar titled Current situation & Prospects of Job Fair in NFE Sub-sector in Bangladesh was also held at the same venue.

Engineer Dr. Sakawat Ali, Principal, Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Center (BKTTC) presented the keynote paper. Dr. Ruhul Amin Sarker, DG, Bureau of Non Formal Education (BNFE), Mr. Md. Emran, Project Director, STEP, Ms. Aleya Sarwar Daizy, Counselor, Dhaka City Corporation (North) were present at the seminar as Guests of Honor. Around 200 participants from concerned GO, NGO, INGO representatives, development partners, civil society and media were present at the seminar. A total of twenty eight multinational & national companies participated in the Fair. Around 1,700 graduates and job seekers from different training institutes & NGOs gathered at the job fair where almost 1,300 candidates received on the spot job offer. Another 300 are also expected to be taken in the near future job.

The program was sponsored by the European Union. Such initiatives can make a difference in the lives of so many disadvantaged youth and prevent them from going astray or getting involved in anti-social activities.
