Major Highlights

Discussion Session on Realities and Challenges of Education for All (EFA) held
(Sunday, 25 April, 2010)

 

A Discussion Session on Realities and Challenges of Education for All (EFA) & Sharing of findings of the study on Reality Check Bangladesh 2009 on Education was organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) in cooperation with SIDA Bangladesh on 25th April 2010 at the CIRDAP Auditorium, Dhaka. About 80 participants from Teachers’ Unions, NGOs, Researchers, Media and Civil Society Groups attended the Discussion Session. Dr. Alauddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister (Education, Social development and Political Affairs) was present as the Chief Guest. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Chairperson, CAMPE & President, DAM presided over the the discussion session.

 

 
Ms. Rasheda K. Choudhury welcomed the participants and briefly described the background and objective of the Discussion Session. Dr. James Jennings shared the progress and EFA scenario of South Asia and Mr. K.M. Enamul Hoque shared the Bangladesh Perspective on EFA. Mr. Samuel Egero, Country Director, SIDA introduced the participants about the Reality Check Study. Later on Mr. Enamul Huda and Ms. Noorjahan Begum shared the findings of the Reality Check study. The study tried to show the reasons behind children dropout from school, SMC’s role and lack of sufficient and quality teachers for the children. There was Open Discussion Session on "1GOAL: Education for All - How far it is?". There was a lively discussion on the topic and the participants gave their valuable comments/suggestions to ensure Education for All.
