Major Highlights

Sub-National Level Consultation on “Quality Education and Status of Teachers” held
(Sunday, 11 May 2008)


 


As part of CAMPE’s plan to organize 6 divisional consultations on “Quality Education and Status of Teachers” in collaboration with different Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh, the consultation at Rajshahi division was held on 11 May 2008 at the Rajshahi PTI Auditorium. Renowned educationist and famous writer Professor Hassan Azizul Haq was present at the consultation as Special Guest while Dr. Ainul Haque, Bureau Chief, BSS Rajshahi and Mr. A. K. M. Golam Mostafa, Assistant Director, Primary Education, Rajshahi Zone was present as Guests of Honor. Superintendent of Rajshahi PTI Mr. Rawshan Ali presided over the consultation. Mr. K. M. Enamul Hoque, Program Manager, CAMPE delivered the welcome address. Professor Nazmul Haq, IER, Dhaka University presented the findings of a research work titled “Status of Teachers in Bangladesh” conducted by UNESCO Bangladesh. About 100 teachers from both primary and secondary schools were present at the consultation and expressed their views for ensuring quality education. It was pointed out at the consultation that increasing teachers’ benefits is one of the important factors for ensuring the quality of education but the teachers also have to work dedicatedly to improve the quality of education. A combined effort is necessary from the teachers, guardians, government, civil society members, NGOs and students to ensure quality of education.
