Three 2 day-long workshop, debate and cultural competition on "Millennium Development Goals in Bangladesh: Achievement and Our Role" was held on 11-12 June, 18-19 June and 9-10 July 2008 at Feni, Rajshai and Barisal respectively to popularize the concept of MDGs among the young adult and promote future leadership for achieving MDGs. 

Feni: A two day long inter school debate & cultural competition on "Millennium Development Goals in Bangladesh: Achievement and Our Role" was held on 11-12 June 2008 at Feni. A total of 16 Secondary Schools and about 160 students participated in this program. The program was jointly organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF). On the first day, a workshop on MDGs was facilitated by Ms. Rahnuma Salam Khan, AGM, Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation.

Sixteen teams joined the workshop on MDGs and participated in debate, art, essay & quiz competition on different MDG issues. Participants were awarded with trophy, crest, gift and certificates at the closing session. Mr. Taibul Haque, Principal, Iqbal Memorial College graced the Closing Session as the Chief Guest. Dr. Abdun Nur Tushar, Media Person & Ex General Secretary, BDF was present as the Special Guest. Mr. Sayed-ul-Alam Kazal, Program Manager, CAMPE, Mr. Subroto Nath, Head Master, Feni Govt. Girls’ High School, Mr. Sanjib Saha, General Secretary, BDF & Mr. Saiful Azim, Event Manager, The Daily Prothom Alo also participated in the Closing Ceremony. Mr. Tahsin Uddin Ahmed, Chairperson, BDF chaired this session.

 

Rajshahi: Another debate competition was held on the theme at Government Laboratory High School, Rajshahi on 18-19 June 2008. It was jointly organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF). Ms. Rahnuma Salam Khan, AGM, Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation. facilitated the workshop on MDGs on 18 June 2008. About 160 students from 16 Schools participated in the program. Certificates were given to all the participants and prizes were given to the champion and runners-up teams at the Closing Ceremony. Professor Hasan Azizul Haque, renowned Writer & Teacher, Rajshahi University was present as the Chief Guest. Advocate Golam Arif Tipu, Bhasha Sainik (Language Movement Activist) and Professor Samsul Alam (Bir Pratik), Freedom Fighter were present as the Special Guests. Dr. Abdun Nur Tushar, Ex General Secretary, BDF, Mr. Sayed-ul-Alam Kazal, Program Manager, CAMPE, Md. Mostaq Habib, Head Master, Govt. Laboratory High School, Rajshahi, Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice-president, BDF were also present in this session.

Barisal: Another inter school debate & cultural competition on "Millennium Development Goals in Bangladesh: Achievement and Our Role" was held on 9-10 July 2008 at Barisal. Here also a total of 16 Secondary Schools and about 160 students participated in this program. This program was also jointly organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF). On the first day, a workshop on MDGs was facilitated by Mr. Shafi Ahmed, Professor, English Department, Jahangirnagar University. Students joined the MDGs workshop, debate, art, essay & quiz competition on different MDG issues. Participants were awarded with trophy, crest, gift and certificates at the Closing Session. Dr. Sirajuddin Ahmed, Principal, B M College graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Nikhil Sen, renowned Cultural Person was present as the Special Guest. Mr. Sayed-ul-Alam Kazal, Program Manager, CAMPE, Mr. Amjad Hossain Molla, Head Master, Halima Khatun Girls’ High School, Mr. Debashis Ranjan Sarker, Vice President, BDF and Mr. Toufiq Maruf, Staff Reporter, The Daily Prothom Alo also participated in the Closing Ceremony.

Sessions on "Effective Debating Skill"
Along with every debate program another session on Effective Debating Skill was facilitated by BDF members.
