 Continuing Education (CE) Material

In order to improve the literacy situation in Bangladesh, government and non-government agencies have adopted large-scale program interventions. As a result, literacy rates have been increasing. However, due to lack of opportunities to utilize the newly acquired skills, people often relapse into illiteracy. The Directorate of Non-formal Education (DNFE) and NGOs are launching continuing education program to face this challenge. These programs seek to prevent people from relapsing into illiteracy. Such activities include designing program materials that enable target groups to practice their newly acquired literacy skills. DNFE, BRAC, PROSHIKA, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, FIVDB, CAMPE and some other organizations have already developed some CE materials. But a lot more needs to be done. The numbers of neo-literates are increasing day by day and their requirements are fluid. But the current interventions are neither enough to compare with the number of neo-literates nor commensurate with the ever changing demands.
