In order to improve the literacy situation in
Bangladesh, government and non-government agencies have adopted
large-scale program interventions. As a result, literacy rates have
been increasing. However, due to lack of opportunities to utilize the
newly acquired skills, people often relapse into illiteracy. The
Directorate of Non-formal Education (DNFE) and NGOs are launching
continuing education program to face this challenge. These programs
seek to prevent people from relapsing into illiteracy. Such activities
include designing program materials that enable target groups to
practice their newly acquired literacy skills. DNFE, BRAC, PROSHIKA,
Dhaka Ahsania Mission, FIVDB, CAMPE and some other organizations have
already developed some CE materials. But a lot more needs to be done.
The numbers of neo-literates are increasing day by day and their
requirements are fluid. But the current interventions are neither
enough to compare with the number of neo-literates nor commensurate
with the ever changing demands.
Following are some of the CE Materials developed
and published by CAMPE:
