CAMPE Staff and family reaches out to the aid of Flood victims in Kurigram

A two member team from CAMPE  was sent out to Kharuwarpar under Kurigram district to distribute cash support to the most affected flood victims particularly women who are either widows, abandoned or very old.

A total of BDT 2,50,000 (taka Two lac Fifty Thousand only) was collected from CAMPE staff and their families within two days through a quick drive and distributed among 308 women. Solidarity a local partner organization working in Kurigram assisted the team to connect with the locals who lost their homes and all belongings in the devastating floods ; some of them were victims of the Liberation War.

Kurigram district is among the worst affected areas . The women who gathered there since early afternoon described their woes and narrated how they spent days in chest deep water with barely anything to eat and no where to go for sanitation. Many parts of the roads were broken with deep ditches and pot holes. All schools were closed due to the infrastructural damages. It may be mentioned that no relief was received earlier by these people from any other source.
